I would suggest we give people a bit more time. I can close the thread if we want. I mean, we don't have Glen, or anything. I think a fair warning of about 24 hours to finalize lists, organize what we are packing, etc. is good.

Good idea Ward.

I offer up many different questions:

1. Are we starting this game as if A) We had not heard of this game or as if B) All of the posts we have made leading up to the start of the game we remember.

So, is it going to be,
"What! I thought this was all a make-believe game on the forum! This thing is REAL!?"
or,
"Holy crap an ASB just woke me up in the middle of the night! I've got to get food and tools and stuff? What the heck am I going to get?"

2.
The First Day - 48 hours
The Second Day - 24 hours
The Third Day - 24 hours
The Fourth Day - 12 hours
The Fifth Day - 12 hours
The Sixth Day - 12 hours
The Seventh Day - 12 hours

After that I don't know how fast you guys want the game to go. I would prefer if we could go a little faster, maybe even a week a day or so.

3. Who do you control? (Point of View for Roleplaying: Yourself; NPCs whose actions you control: Your Family, Descendents, your animals, and...)

4. How do we determine current weather conditions?

5. How do we determine if we stumble upon Amerindians, either solitary, a hunting group, or a war party?

6. How do we determine if we run into dangerous animals?

Also the ASB gave us 24 hrs to get ready to go and get your list ready of what you are taking.

I like to have the first day last for 48 hrs at less and the next 2 days each extend over 48 hrs each . This is were we will role play the setting up of the goverment and the rules of the Colony .

Dose some one live in San Fran we can use there weather for the day .

Who you control is yourself and your members of your family. Plus any one else you have the right to NPC. I have DR. What ok to NPC him and his new wife.

Agreed. Any objections? I'll start setting up the calendar and probably sticky it. We definitely won't be short of moderators, with Bulgarok and me involved. :)

Well, since it's mid-February (is that what we agreed?) then the weather will be a little different than December 5th. We could probably get weather records from last year and just follow that.

Agreed. If another member gives you the right to roleplay them, then go ahead.

What about the NPCs that aren't going to be involved at all? I think everyone should be able to have a small say in controlling the actions of their demographic group. Since we are extrapolating the demographics of the active members over the whole group, I would have some say in advising what the Mormons would do (though maybe only one or two other families of Mormons since I am a minority in the target group).

To get this thing started, let's figure out the chances for the following events throughout the day:

Encounter an Amerindian hunting party (How Many? Armed with what? What is our chance of finding one during an entire day of farming? Of traveling? Of hunting?)

Encounter an Amerindian warparty (Bad news. Same questions as above.)

Encounter a Grizzly Bear.

---

Someone try to find a calendar of weather for last year, February 15th.

---

Amerindians at this time are hunter-gatherers, right? They don't have villages, they move all of the time. How many Amerindians are in the San Francisco Bay region in 3000 BC? We need a good estimate for that. How many tribes? A tribal map will be great, with territories, hypothesized fishing areas, and current villages. Even if you make some of it up, it will be very useful.

Dave or Ward said something about a random event generator. Mind posting an example? Also, we should have a thread, and every day we post the events that will occur the next day. This will give people the next day the opportunity to roleplay that event.

Weather History for San Francisco, California. I am using 1977 as our example to determine rainfall, wind and temperature. Why 1977? It was the year with the warmest, dry day for February 15th. 60 degrees! It's much better than the 50 degrees those San Franciscans get usually get that time of year.

Everyone agree to use this site and the year 1977 to determine weather for every day?

Lets take day 4 its early morning about 06:00 hrs a mountian lion is heading in on the herd of cows , so those on herding what are they doing ,
that afternoon one of the small children is missing what are those people in camp doing about this . 16:00 hrs some one finds a patch of eatibled plants .

Sounds cool for the random generator. Remember to only generate important events, though. Finding a patch of edible plants wouldn't be too major. I think really only wild animal attacks and Indian encounters need to be generated. The rest can be roleplayed.

One thing...none of those events are likely to happen the first day.

A group of 3000 plus people and their many animals is going to scare away everyone and everything in the area.

Though we might be watched....
