Sorry for beginning a take-over of the Shared Worlds forum, Mosiac Earthers!
Anyway, I believe to begin getting facts nailed to the wall, we need to take action. I am not trying to take control of this project in any way, just want to help. :)
Check it out, vote, or propose other ideas. Since I'm a moderator of this forum (nearly forgot, did you?), I can add in any proposals so new options can be voted on.
Cool? Cool.
Note: The poll will end in three days, though I'd like to end results after only one day, Saturday at 4:00 PM. So vote as soon as you can.

The ones who were banned should stay home, though - don't wanna have a nazi colony around...

I went with all who have at least one post- After all, I think we need as many people as possible, and many banned users wouldn't be establishing Nazi colonies- for example, Molobo, though he may try to find his way to Europe and establish Poland a few thousand years early...

I still say Active Members, mainly cuz I like the idea of a small struggling colony. :p

I say all members, because all members of a commune can't continuously contribute equally all the time, any missed time periods can be explained away by misfortune, and anybody opting out of the game can meet an untimely end.

All active members. It's not a matter of choice either, because by common sense noone would go.

I like the idea of a huge group ISOTed, definitely in the multiple of thousands range. More opportunity to affect the rest of the world, more conflicts, more townships and groups, more manpower... makes for a better 'story'.

I think you are thinking of this wrong. Those who do not participate in this will become NPCs, in that we assume whatever they do.
I suggest that we take a census of all members of this Shared World Game, figuring out percentages of religions, races, family size and maybe even go down to political-ideological leanings. Then we can extrapolate this across the entire population ISOTed. Then we can discover what our group would do, once we know who they are, based on the people that are actually playing.

If we ISOT all members who have 1 post or more, that comes out to exactly 860 members of the board.
We will need a census to get appropriate how many actual people are coming along, but it could easily get up there to about 5,000 people.
A measily 5,000... will keep our gene pool healthy, a good manpower base... maybe possibly two or three seperate villages/colonies after a short while. More conflict and more fun resulting from it. Ultimately, our alternate history caused by the ISOT will be better with more people.
What do you say?

I think permanently banned should not be included.
Otherwise, we should include all those who have more than one post, active or inactive.
I'm not too worried about gene pools for two reasons...
We're bringing families as well.
We will undoubtably interbreed with our neighbors.
We may start out as a predominantly white group, but we're going to turn into a Native American nation within generations...which is fine by me.

Okay! The votes are tallied!
All Members of the AH.com Board, inactive and active (1136) - 2 votes - 8.70%
All Active Members of the AH.com Board (461) - 11 votes - 47.83%
All Members of the AH.com who have at least one post (860) - 10 votes - 43.48%
Now, I was thinking about this, and the vote was very close. I probably should have made it a two-way decision. All Active Members vs All Members with at least one post. The people who advocate more people had to choose between inactive and active, and only those with one post. My bad.
So I was wondering if we can make a compromise, because we are so divided on the topic. Let's average out all the numbers, based on the percentage that wanted that size of a group.
I did the calculations (8.7% of 1136, 47.83% of 461, 43.48% of 860) and it comes out to 693. We haven't taken a family size census, so we don't really know how big each group is going to be that follows this number. The exact, exact numbers of the ISOT group will be calculated after this census. But right now it will be crucial to determine the AH.com members that are coming.
So, we can accept a compromise, with 693 people being ISOTed with their families, or we can give the people who won-by-one vote their 461 people.
How does it sound?

Ward and I think we should go with the 693 (ie, 2 votes for it)

I say go with the Active Members, the votes say it. Go by the votes. I also say leave Ian's home behind. Again the votes say it.

The easiest and quickest compromise would be the number 693, and since I haven't met much opposition against it (sorry Psycho), I think we should go with it.

Did calculations again with the votes we have now.
Comes out to 694! That ends it. That's how many AH.com members we will bring.
