About two years ago Georgepatton made mention of the Vlad Tepes Award, and it stuck in the minds of many AH members. At the time though, I made mention that the "Award" originated from the spacebattles forums, but was unable to offer proof of such due to the SB forums having server issues due to the forum software being unable to handle the 6 million posts and the search index at the same time, resulting in search being disabled on SB.
Well, SB has since moved to a new forum software, and more importantly, search has been reactivated.
Here is proof that the Vlad Tepes Award originated from SB as I originally stated.
The first mention of the "Award" on AH was February 12, 2010 (http://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=148832). However ir originated on SB sometime between 2002 and 2005. There are good examples of it HERE (Aug 16, 2005) (http://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/star-trek-on-rifts-earth.87689/#post-2246189) and HERE (Oct 30, 2005) (http://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/srw-verse-vs-the-shrike.91170/#post-2350760), a full seven years years before it was even mentioned on AH. When I find the original post that the Award originated from on SB, I'll edit in a link to that as well.:)
But yeah, there's the proof that the Vlad Tepes Award (http://wiki.alternatehistory.com/doku.php/alternate_history/vlad_tepes_award) originated from the spacebattles forums as I stated earlier.

I think that makes you our official curator of AH.com lore. An AHistorian, if you will. :)

No, Hitler got the Darwin award for setting himself up to die in an elaborate chain of events.

The Wiki hasn't been changed by the way, still says it was AH founded.

Would you like to fix it, perhaps?

I will continue to get very angry and hop up and down if someone posts that stupid meme in any ASB thread, so please report them when you see them!

It's very funny actually. It's an AH.com tradition, not your average internet meme.

That's only because it doesn't make sense to use it on any old site. Not that racing to put the image on any thread likely to kill off a large hypothetical chunk of humanity really adds anything to the site, discussionwise.
EDIT: For the record, I don't find it funny: anecdotal evidence, but I think helpful in understanding my position and, AIUI, the moderation's.

Guess what? "AH.com traditions" are hostile and offputting to new posters and to people who spend their time on this site contributing instead of reading through the wiki and posting over and over in Chat so they can be up to date on all this site's epic memory ftw.

:p:p:p. This is why I'm glad to be in TL writer mode right now.
PS: I had a friend show me space battles, reading some really detailed and well written cthulhu/Neon Genesis Evangelion fanfic (which really surprised me because I generally see fanfic as smut about Bella getting in a S&M/bestiality 3 way with Jacob and Edward). But OMG, did I think we had some flamebaiting snobs here. No this forum is down right civil and well moderated in comparison.
So BIG UPS to all you mods!

Spacebattles is what would happen if ah.com weren't moderated for civility. It doesn't guarantee better content, it just means that the forum vanishes further up its own ass. A Twilight fanfiction writer is as likely to be able to survive that kind of environment as a useful contributor is, but there are ten times as many terrible posters out there. Not only do they win by default, but you're selecting for the kind of people who thrive on Winning the Internet, who are the worst people in the world.

So just to make sure, Spacebattles is like the deregulated version of Ah.com

I continue to support to use of the Vlad Tepes Award, when I first posted* it was a Vlad Tepes-worthy thread, and I got the award. I laughed (having not seen it previously) and then continued to scroll through the thread. No harm done, and its the same experience for 99% of people who get Vlad Tepes Awards. I have never in my experience seen a bad reaction to it.
(Also FYI I am not one of those people who enjoys winning the internet (never actually had that happen) and I avoid chat most of the time)
* In the ASB forum that is (this is an edit).

I'm amused and a tiny bit impressed you remembered a claim you made two years ago long enough to actually back it up when nobody really cared much in the first place.
