Only noticed now that I have my own wiki article since more than four months now. Time to do stuff which brings people to expand the article (should dig up a TL idea...)

Thanks Petike!

You were saying ? ;) :D

How do you, then?!?!!?

First, navigate to the alphabetical member list. I assume you want to try your own name, so look under T and hit the edit button. Look for the correct alphabetical position for your use handle. Make a new line for it with the usual Enter stuff, the "star" denoting the list in each line of the source code should appear automatically. Now, copy someone's name along with the brackets and rewrite everything between "offtopic:" and the ending brackets to your user name. Save. Now scroll down the list, look for your name. If you've added it correctly to the list, it should be on the list now (under T). But it's still red. Click on the red link, a new page should appear. Hit "Edit" on the new page and start writing your profile, then save. It's best to give the page a title which uses the template :

====== AH. commer name ======

So, for example :

====== TurkishCapybara ======

This will allow everyone to easily identify your page. The rest of the writing and formatting is up to you, but you can learn a lot by reading other pages and copying or imitating their source code (e. g. //text// will give you the word "text" in italics, **text**will give you the word "text" written in bold, ===title=== is a smaller title/heading than ====title====, etc.).

The general policy is that if you write at least a semi-succesful, multi-installment timeline or story, you should get a page because you've already contributed something to the board.

Do TLs have to be finished before you get a Wiki article?

Thespitron 6000

I have an article, but I made it myself, so it's about 99% lies. Feel free to correct any of them IF YOU DARE.

Petike
May 2nd, 2012, 11:46 AM
Do TLs have to be finished before you get a Wiki article?

Not at all. Many TLs are worked on for years before they're 100 % finished and they still get to be included (either listed on the author's page or the Stories or Timelines and Scenarios sections). If you think a TL is extensive enough and could grab the interest of others, add it to the wiki.

My recent narrative about different native monarchies on the Hawaiian islands is in the "Early Modern AH" part of Timelines and Scenarios, even though it's short and I'm planning a much thorough remake in the future. There were few timelines listed in that section when compared to the other ones and Polynesian TLs are rare on the board, so I just thought : "Why not ? It would add a little variety in terms of theme and place..."

So have you made practically everyone's wiki page?

Not at all, but I made a lot of basic profiles for members who still didn't have any, despite having written several (mostly very neat) TLs.

Be honest, did you make your own?;)

I did. It's not a crime. Don't be affraid to make your own profile, if you want to. No one will be looking over your shoulder, it's your personal decision.

You've been here long enough and contributed quite a bit (flags, the TACOS scheme, etc.), so I think a personal page is certainly deserved. Frankly, I'm surprised you still didn't have any. Feel free to edit it as you like if you want to add more info about your works and so on...

The profiles are mostly there just in case we'd need a place where we could collect the person's stories and TLs. Most of the profiles (particularly the ones hastily made by me) are of that simple nature. I leave more personal information down to the person in question - if he/she wants to add anything, than by all means, he can do as he/she wants, as long as the page remains well arranged and readable. ;)
