OK, the names of certain places in England have changed substantially from their orig names, as with York, which initially in Anglo-Saxon was 'Eoforwic' before the Viking invasion changed it to 'Jorvik', and Exeter, whose name only became as such after the Norman chroniclers post-1066 had too much trouble with the orig 'Exenceaster' ! Now, how could these initial Anglo-Saxon placenames have been retained, in addition to with such PODs as no Viking and/or Norman invasions ?
