What if Communist East Germany (with West and East Berlin, of course) were ISOTed to September 1, 1939, replacing Nazi Germany? What would happen? Would World War II break out? Well, don't just look, post!

Then soviets would join them, the red army invades west Berlin. With superior weaponery and surprise, they invades twestern/National-Socialist remaine...
months later, a soviet thermonuclear missiles (SSN-20) is fired, the western allies surrender, all of Europe is under bolchevik controle in 1940...
The whole world is under choc, in May 1940, international touriste planes transphormed to bombers droppe thermonuclear bombes on the US, the US surrender too.
Before the end of 1940, Berlin becomes the capital of the World Governement. ;)

Let's be more adventerous. GDR declares itself the one true communist nation. GDR troops take over the nukes before the red army regiments can respond to wondering why no one is answering their calls to mother russia. Moscow gets nuked - GDR didn't like them much either - and they demand that the rest of the world surrenders.
