OK this is meant to be more fun than it is anything serious. Since it deals with the Bahamas, the United States and Canada merging to form one Republic I think it belongs in ASB. All three nations agree on some compromises, one of the compromises is the capital of the nation will be loacated at Niagra Falls.
As of now the agreement allows for the retention of the Stars and Stripes to be used as the national flag, and the current US Dollar to be the currency. Both are subject to change, but only after a new constitution is drafted. There have already been agreements on the new currency to be circulated, the Amero, will have different colors, and instead of Presidents have important landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty.
There will also be very important changes to the make up of the United States and Canada. "Cultural" borders will replace state/province borders. New regions will include Cascadia in the Pacific Northwest, Dixie in the southeast, Appalachia and the Ozarks in their perspective places, and New England and New France in the Northeast. The Metric system will come into common use, and the option to join the Commonwealth is to be decided by the American-Canadian Parliment/Congress. The US and Canadian militaries are preparing to merge, the US military ranks and pay grades are going to be used.
Ultimatley the goal of the North American Union is to eventually bring Mexico, Central America, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Cuba and Jamaica into the fold.
Now the point of this thread is where the fun comes in, we here at AlternateHistory.com are tasked to write the constitution of the North American Union. The country must be a democractic republic, and have both a President and a Prime Minister. Lets write this constitution shall we?
