just like the title says, lets cast a movie or miniseries about TL-191. personally i'd like to see a miniseries made by either HBO or AMC
(i know amc sounds weird but has any one seen the walking dead? its AMAZING for amc)

-anyway-

IMHO hears a draft of some of the more important charters form TL-191

Irving Morrel- Kenneth Barnagh
Jake Featherston- Ed Harris
Scipio/Xerxes-Morgan Freeman or Danny Glover or both!!
Chester Martin- Tom Siezmore
Jefferson Pinkerd-
Johnathan Moss- Ed Burns
John Abel- Jason Issacs
Sam Carsten- Tom Hanks

thats all i can think of right now. i think alot of the cast would have to be made up of unknowns though, or people who havent been in too many popular films.

Abner Dowling, my favourite character in the series, would be a tough one to cast. We'd need someone fat, amiable-looking and able to come across as a decent guy. I can't really think of anyone right now.

Michael Cera as Armstrong Grimes? :P

But then who will be Custer? He was just as fowl-mouthed and, well, Ermey's kinda old to be Patton. Even WWII Patton. Ermey as Custer works just as well.

Also, instead of remaking my list for the 5th or 6th time, I'll just recycle a list I made almost 3 years ago in a very similar thread:

That being said...

Jake Featherston (not Jack Featherstone; it's not hard at all to get it right) would need to be played by either an old guy who can be made with minimal effort to look young (since we've seen Featherston in the age range of 29-58 or thereabouts), or two different actors.

I nominate Gary Sinise, from Forrest Gump and CSI: NY, who also played George Wallace in a TNT production several years back).

Other interesting nominations I've read over the past five years were Gary Busey (if he lost weight; Jake was a skinny little bastard), Edward Norton, and Billy Bob Thornton.

Mary Pomeroy (teen) could be played by that cheerleader from Heroes. Mary Pomeroy (adult) or Anne Colleton could be played by Kate Winslet.

Ferdinand Koenig could be played by Fred Dalton Thompson, the DA from Law & Order and former Republican Party candidate for President in 2008.

Jefferson Davis Pinkard could be played by Matthew McConaughey (the guy from Sahara).

Flora Hamburger Blackford could be played by Rachel McAdams.

...Maybe (she might be a better fit for Anne Colleton or Mary Pomeroy).

Reginald "Reggie" Bartlett could be played by Barry Pepper (the sniper dude from Saving Private Ryan and death-row guard from The Green Mile).

Gordon McSweeney could be played by the guy who plays Marshall Erikson on How I Met Your Mother.

Paul Mantarakis could be played by Adrien Brody.

Irving Morrell or Clarence Potter could be played by Ed Harris.

I was originally going to pick Sean Penn to play the role of Featherston but I always pictured Jake as looking similar to Owen Wilson. I picked Mel Gibson after listening to those recordings of him going crazy on his girlfriend/wife/whatever, and I thought to myself... omg this is what Featherston would sound like giving a speech. Just the venomous hate that filled his rant. It was glorious. Granted I only originally wanted Sean Penn because of his role as Wille Stark in the remake of All the King's Men. Good preformance.

Btw, I actually did picture Billy Ray whenever I thought of Pinkard. It just looked like a good match. Bill Murray seems like a good fit for the humorous and sarcastic Miachel Pound. Ermy just has that military feel to him that you get when you think of someone like Patton. And Partridge was described as a likeable if aloof womanizer that cracked jokes more than playing politics. Hasselhoff came to mind. Everyone else was just who I thought of when I imagined what the characters looked like.

These are just my opinions, draw your own conclusions if you wish.

idk about Michel Cera playing Armstrong Grimes...Grimes is just a little to smart alecy in the begining and too combat hardened in the end to be played be Cera....maybe Jesse Eisneberg

i never thought of Bill Murry when i though of Michel Pound and tom cruise playing Morrel is just...idk im not a fan of his....i really think Branagh could do him he has that look

I just had a bit of a minor brainwave, I know he's not southern, but David Curoso (Horatio from CSI: Miami) could look like Jake Featherston.

'Barry' out of Eastenders, fits the bil perfectly!

Hang on, I'll IMDB him and see who the actor is......ah, Shaun Williamson.

(American members probably know him better from Ricky Gervais' Extras)

Which part of the TL 191 will this be? I think it should focus on either the Great War or WWII, but think it would be more difficult to cover the twenty years between, simply because of aging of characters.

Personally, I'd rather HBO come out with a Worldwar series, if you're going to do Flying Turtle.

Christian Paul Maggos as Jake Featherston

Think of my real name and repeat it a few times to rhyme it in the name as Jake Featherston, there you have the perfect cast as Jake Featherston
in the greatest alternate WW2 history war movie series, the "Settling Accounts" Tertralogy! Here's my pic of me as "Jake Featherston".
