Well, basically when a Mosaic Earth game is starting, the moderators will post the suggested starting rules for developing countries for the game and what the game setting will be like. People create nations from different timelines and they all end up getting mixed together on the same planet.
For example:
Mosaic Earth 6 was set in the year 2005, with the AH nations being allowed to have technology no greater than 5 years more advanced than that year. The ISOT (from Island on the Sea of Time) occurs instantaneously and all these countries find themselves sharing borders. Ships flying your flag show up with you in the same part of the ocean they were in, your armies come back to the home nation and ISOT with them. Oh, and all radioactive materials in warheads turned to lead.
Mosaic Earth 7 was set in the year 1886, had also a 5 year + tech cap, and otherwise similar rules (obviously no mention of nukes).
So, usually we start out with a blank map and people calling out on the thread what territories they want for their post ISOT boundaries (can have any as your pre ISOT, but that might mean not all of your nation makes it. you can also have more than one nation come along or parts of more than one). And usually people have some loose cap on how many nations of differing timelines you have. For example, I think in ME7 you could either have one empire, two major nations, or four minor nations.
Once the territories are claimed and approved, people post info about their nation, and usually a flag. Also post stats for their militaries.
Once everything is in place, we start the game which usually has gametime running faster than in r/l. The game mostly progresses by posting messages and vinettes. You can arrange events between different nations by talking to the other players and working out the details or by running actions past one of the moderators. Many pretty maps tend to get made in the course of play.
Well, them's the basics as I see them. Others might have more to share.

Since I can see most of the other games are filled, when will a new one start?

Good question. Not for several more weeks, probably. But we might start a game earlier if we discover there are several new people interested in playing.
Tell you what, all those interested in playing in a Mosaic Earth game (and not currently playing, we don't count ;) ), say so here in this thread. I think if we could get four or five new people committed to playing then it would be worth starting up another ME. By committed, to play properly, you need to be able to come and take care of your countries at least one every couple days.
So, who's interested?

Or can I use one from one of my timelines like my Republic of Canada or something like that

One from another timeline you or someone else has written would be fine. We have someone in ME7 right now playing a version of the Draka, for example. As long as you tailor it to fit the particular parameters set for that particular game, you're fine.

What you can do is ask for Canada and Go from there . Read the Canada from ME7 under posted nations and thats how a county can be difrent.
Or check France it only change was it won the Franco - Prussian War .

I'd like to play in another ME, but my problem is that I lose interest in most of them quickly, and I have a feeling that pisses most of you guys off. The only one I really was super-enthusiastic about was Alterverse, and that seemed to die quicker than a 15-year old in Jeffrey Dahmer's basement. :D

Yeah, you should try to be willing to keep playing for a while if you are going to get into a full ME.
On the other hand, I've just created a 'Practice' ME for fun (not to play), to give those interested a taste of how it can work and those of us who just like to create new mosaic worlds some fun (so you won't piss us off if you leave after everything is created on this one, Diamond ;) ). Go check out the Practice ME thread.
But people who ARE interested in playing out a full ME, please still say so here.

PS - Ward, in the Practice ME, you personally are not allowed to have any nation in France ;)

I was in the process of creating an EZboard forum dedicated to Alterverse (which I renamed Multiverse) when EZboard experienced the Great Forum Holocaust and wiped everything I'd just spent three days working on. So now its on hold indefinitely while I search for a different web forum that isn't protected from hackers by twine and cardboard. I'll let everyone know when and if I get it up and running.

No, not really. We may some day have one that does so, but as of now the nations themselves have to be hard science, though the ASBs are anything but...

If anybody is looking for a game to join, there are still empty slots in MEuro.

Welcome. Go to MEuro Posting of Nations, look at the map, and pick any space in white<g>. They seem in especial need of Scotland and Papal States.

What were the previous other five about? Has there ever been one set in ancient times (Roman Empire and earlier)?

Not sure.
ME 5 was 1948
ME6.0 had Imperial Russia about to crush everybody then everybody wanted to quit, so we had
ME6.1, a long lived on that had lots of interesting stuff including a Bio-War.....
As far as I know, nothing going as far back as Rome, the time scale required would just be so huge.....

I'm new here, so could anyone enlighten me as to when Mosaic Earth will start, or if there are any other games beginning soon?-Thanks

Well, right now Mosaic Earth 7: 1899 is going on, the sequal/continuation to Mosaic Earth 7. There's also LImited Mosaic Earth (LIME), which is a game for the newer members (since it's unlikely for a new user to join the established ME7)... Some players are leaving, so you might be able to take their countries.
Mosaic Europe is also going on, a related game... Alot of people are inactive there.
