Anybody read this? I've been working through it while hanging out at Barnes and Noble.

The Premise? A Mosaic ISOT. :D Various patches of the Earth from 2 million years ago to 2037 are stitched together. A group of UN peacekeepers from 2037, allied with 19th century British Indian soldiers (including Rudyard Kipling) and Alexander the Great, race against a team of Cosmonauts (lead by an American, ironically) allied with Genghis Khan to reach ancient Babylon, where a radio signal has been detected.

read it. its by clarke and baxter btw. its ok, but not great. i have been jaded by ME and IE. i didnt like how it delt with the soldiers being the last ISOTs, as after them 'there would be nothing' didnt like that, but it is a recurring feature in Baxters works.

I enjoyed it quite a bit, actually. I just fail to understand why it needed to be split into two books.

Publishers have something against books long then 350 pages, I think.
