WI....The clashing rocks

Remember the old film of Jason and the Argonauts?
Damn those clashing rocks were scary...
Anyway- WI the straits of Gibralter feature a lovely set of clashing rocks.
(I know this isn't where the originals were but they are far more interesting over here).
We can say they start going into motion 4000BC or so just so that they don't mess with evolutuion and civilization can start with them in place.

Approximately on Spain / Gibralter border, the flattish bit between The Rock (of) and Mainland Spain....

From whenever the clacking rocks begin there'll be a portage over the nearest safe pass, then some-one has bright idea of digging it through...
