What butterflies could exist from Italo Balbo not being killed by friendly fire/assassinated in 1940? He was one of the better if not Italy's best commanders, or would he just be another general caught up in the war?

I think it was more Mussolini is assassinated and Balbo takes over in around 1937-36, if where thinking about it. And yes, it is great, but I'm more curious about what effect he could have on OTL WWII.

He would have demanded the Air Force be used in Libya, so no Italian Planes in the Battle of Britain.
