Here a list of some abbreviations frequently used in AH.

Feel free to add more or correct wrong ones.

Specific
AH: Alternate History
ATL: Alternate Time Line
OTL: Our Time Line (also called RL, real life :-)
PoD: Point of Divergence, fictional changed occurrence in the past.
TL: Time Line, something like a parallel or fictional world after a PoD
WI: What if

Organisations
RN: Royal Navy - British Fleet
HSF: Hochseeflotte (High See Fleet) - German Fleet

Nations
UK: United Kingdom
GB: Great Britain
US: United States of Amerika
CS: (Former) Confederate States
SU: (Former) Soviet Union
GDR: German Democratic Republic, (Former) Eastern Germany
DDR: Deutsche Demokratische Republik, (Former) Eastern Germany
CP: Central Powers - Germany, Austria-Hungary (and Turkey) in WWI
HRE: Holy Roman Empire - Christened barbarian empire in Central Europe

The late Habsburgs weren't barabarians. The worst thing they did was inbreed, and that was worst in the Spanish branch, who weren't in the HRE.
