What do you think is the most overused POD in alternate history (so much that you would sigh and say, oh God not this shit again)?
For me it would be the CSA won the american civil war, the axis powers won WW2 also came to my mind

I'd say Axis victory, followed shortly by Confederacy victory, followed closely by Central Powers victory.

Nixon in 1960
Dewey in 1948
Robert Kennedy becoming President (half of this is due to Roguebeaver;))
Rommel takes Egypt
Or are those too specific?
Byzantine Empire survives and becomes Great power...

Definitely Nazis win, CSA wins, and successful Spanish Armada are in the running.

Surviving Roman empire is up there too.

British Victory in the American War of Independence.
13 Colonies and the UK unite into one state.
War of 1812 goes better for either Britain or US.
American Revolutionaries take Quebec from British as well.

WI the Russian Revolution turned out differently?
WI the nukes flew during the Cold War (Cuban Missile Crisis or otherwise)?
Not to mention a certain unmentionable sea mammal....

"What if we never dated"
I get that all the time. Actually, no I don't, I've not gotten a girl in ages. I kinda wish she had said it to me... Or I said it to her.
Some kind of variation of that is the most Overused POD. I mean it's like you regret being with me? Is that it!?!?:(

On AH.com, it tends to be anything American whatsoever, though mostly about the Revolutionary War, 1812 War, or Civil War.

For an event that was next to impossible, there sure are a buttload of Nazi victory scenarios kicking about.

My question: Has anyone actually done a Byzantine TL?

My question: Has anyone actually done a Byzantine TL?
Yes they have. Mine is the longest on here, though is unashamedly populist and fun, rather than a scholarly work. :p

You may as well as whether an Irishman has ever gotten tipsy.
But I'd agree with BG: America is very over-represented with the overused PsOD.
I'd say another is Harold winning the Battle of Hastings and Viking colonisation of the New World.
Oh, and the Austrian Empire collapsing after 1866.

That, reminds me, I've been meaning to ask...has anybody ever made a WWII Timeline here? :D;)

Anything in a published work is highly likely to be very overused (sad but true).
So definitely winning Nazis, no ARW, Southern victory in the ACW, and surviving Rome.
Next to that is anything "Romantic"--anything where some highly idealized situation is thought to have been able to last longer. Surviving Rome is such, but I'm not sure what else is.

Some other bloke wins the US Presidency, and does something minutely different to OTL.

Yeah. It's never the Nazis winning the Civil War and the Confederates winning WW2.

Yeah. It's never the Nazis winning the Civil War and the Confederates winning WW2.
Well, maybe if that damn fool Featherston hadn't invaded Pittsburgh!

Yeah. It's never the Nazis winning the Civil War and the Confederates winning WW2.
To be fair, it was pretty obvious that the Nazis were going to lose even before Rommel's attack on Gettysburg.
