Oh Glen...

When you're finished with what your doing, save the image as a .png not a .gif. You get alot of blurring with .gifs.

Yeah, I figured that out a couple days ago. You'll notice the latest maps have been png.

The borders on that world map aren't OTL

No... no they are not. :D

I found it in the Map Thread, and I just use it as a template whenever I need a world map. I edit the borders as needed. Certainly not claiming credit for it.

I made that map, and the timeline is one where Adlai Stevenson is elected.

Well, the base map came from Wikipedia, but I blackened the border.

My geography skills have faded. What exactly are the deviations of the world map from our own?

Well, there are a number of differences. The United States owns Baja, Xinjiang and Tibet and Manchuria are all independent, India is bigger and so is Iran, Pakistan is smaller, Biafra and Katanga are independent, Sudan has cracked...just look around a little and yoiu'll find plenty of difference.

Hey, those are awesome maps!

Good job, these are spectacular. I know I can be overly optimistic sometimes, but I could really use these. I'm saving these all to My Pictures, I'll definitely be using them. (Especially the Australian map, never could get all those islands down...)

Oh...by the way, if you want to make really, really nice maps, get the GIMP. I've been getting spectacular results as of late altering pre-made imagery. ;)

I've used these maps to make a series of Before and After maps for Turtledove's Great War series, over in the Alternate History Books etc forum.
