Let's say that there was a nuclear holocost released in 1981, and then in 1992 a bio-engineered plauge is realsed. If the plauge killed 14 out of every 17 people, how many would be left on earth afterthe intial holocost? *Statsically*

Other than statisic, what would Isalm look like after 600 more years is added to it along with the history of a Nuclear war and a great plauge (of both foods and animals.)? What places are likely to take the least amount of damage?

Here's my shot.
World Population: 1981 4.529 billion.
How big was the Nuke War? it's not a civilization ender since a bio engineered plague was released. Let's say a mild war. minor nukes hitting US, Europe, Russia, secondary places.
Total dead: less than 100 million, including all associated diseases, service failures, etc. Though the damage is heavy in the "First World" Countries.
OTL world Population 1992: 5.441 billion
ATL world Population 1992: 4.755 billion
Plague kill 14/17 people (.176% surviving). Let's say plague spreads fast, covering the world in less than a year.
World Population 1993: 829 million.
Since the !st worlders were hit hardest in the Nuke War, they'll be hurtin' harder after this. Lack of meds, diseases already rampant, weaken immune systems... but the dead there won't compare to the dead in China, India, and South America, the countries that are getting rich after the Fall of the Firsts.
The spread of other diseases will probably continue to hit the survivors, lack of food, infastructure, etc, will whitle the numbers down over the years.

I'm not going for extintion here, but rather a Rainbow Six style thinning of the Race. Let's say around 2050 the worst has been done and populations start to stablize and grow at a rate of 2.23%. Continue your estmation please.

I think he's just wishing the world to end so he can rebuild civilization the way he wants it.
I went through that phase. Plotting the world's demise, mapping our areas for rebuilding...
What? Why are you looking at me like that???
Go Here: Empty World (http://www.emptyworld.info/) you'll get your fill of Post Apocalyptic readings...

Acualty I'm trying to create the cirrcumstances of a book I read set up in the distant future. And physco, everybody goes through that stage. Of corse I had my elitist stage as well...

Normally i always look askance at stories that have a major apocalyptic event and still retain high tech. there' s limit to the pop levels that are needed to retain technology. Then there's the Whole regression stage right after the Fall.

I read it 6 years ago. I believe Gary Paulson wrote it, most likely geared toward preteens but quite enjoyable.

You were right. Transall Saga was the name of the book. It was a pretty good read...
