Possible or not, seeing as Bush-Haters (France, Germany, Palestine, and China) lover her to death?

I'd say that a woman president won't be elected till after 2020. The people need to see 3 (those born before 1970) more generations become the voting minority before that happens.

I dunno. Does she have the institutional support and clout inside the GOP? If she runs, she can win, but I doubt they'll let her.

She doesn't have a power base of her own inside the party, and she's a total 'yes-man' to Bush.

Also she may lose out to a moderate Republican backlash in 2008.

How about her as VP in 2008? That I could see...

She's too good looking. American women are pretty petty. Now, if she were fat, short, dumpy and named Beulah, then she'd have a chance.

You really think she's good looking?

I suppose she isn't terrible looking when she doesn't open her mouth though.

She ain't Halle, but she's better than Oprah w/o the money. Those millions can make Oprah attractive I suppose.

Hmm, that would be a welcome change. I don't think, and hope, I personally focus much on gender and race, but it would no doubt do wonders for and to the US with a female black president, and a bloody brilliant one at that... Go Condi!!!! :)

Oh, and Condi a yes-person?! Somehow I find that very hard to believe, Kit! She seems hard as nails!

Hehe, I would just love to see Condi and Hillary duke it out in the next Presidential Election... :)

Regards and all!

I voted for No.
on the point of the issues, much will be decided if foreign policy is top priority in the next election. If it is, I could see her as VP candidate.

Leaving out the race and gender issue, a big NO is the fact that she´s unmarried and without children.

she is a Washington insider, that usually plays against candidates.
She can not, as most contenders, point on a long career of top-level decision-making positions, like state governor or senator.

One thing came into my mind this moment: Putting her on the ticket-as VP- in 08 could be a smart move, as it could lead the more radical dems to run frantically around , foaming with rage and shouting "we hate bush! Death to the Neocoms! Michael Moore for president!"
I suppose getting focused on fighting the battles of 2000 and 2004 is something a hard core of activists would love to do, with the majority of the public going "WTF are they talking about"

Leo has been a little less articulate lately.... :p

Seriously, I wouldn't think that Condi has a chance. Besides the insider image, she's too closely associated with the Bush presidency. In the same way Gore tried to distance himself from Clinton in 2000, the Repubs well (imho) to do the same in '08.

I agree with Leo's sentiments. They are spot on.

As for Rice, there isn't a chance. I don't see America as ready. If Hillary runs, she won't get it either, at least not IMHO

Then we should run them against each other.... seriously. Ralph Nader may get his chance.... or some other unknown thrid party candident.

She's definately one of Bush's enforcers, and can be utterly ruthless in that role, but ultimately when Bush says 'jump' Condi asks 'how high?'.

Of course Bush1 got to be president by licking every asshole he could reach, but he did spend years developing a broad, if rather shallow, party base of support.

I thought she didn't ask 'how high?', but got out a tape measure to make sure that she didn't sell him short.

I'd rather have Hillary than Nader. Unless of course the Greens didn't win any seats. Then I don't care, cause nothing is going to get done. At all.

That's the point. The independants won't win anything else. It will be a case of 'Hey wait there is a THIRD OPTION OMG!.' And then anybody that doensn't vote strait party ticket will choose the middle in most cases.

I suppose the government getting nothing done can be good.......

Except they've already done so much that you can't really undo any of it, and might as well keep going.......

Nobodies mentioned him that I see, but my vote will probably go to Tancredo in the primaries, he won't win though and I imagine I'll be voting Constitution Party again.

Had Bush lost, I'd agree. Now I'm not so sure. That's not to say a moderate won't get the nomination in 2008, just because there are more "celebrities," so to speak, in the GOP that could actually win. I would not really call it a backlash (maybe if the GOP loses control of congress in 2006 . . .).

While I voted "yes" in the poll I am betting on a Giuliani-Rice ticket in '08. Dick Morris sells Rudy short, but I chose to remain skeptical.

"I am Rudi Giuliani, you will obey me..."

D'oh

Bush cant have three consecutive elections anyway... so... You could have a Cheney or Giuliani election.
