When the Wall fell and communism ended alot of popular fiction no longer made any sense. My question is this: Is it now dated fiction or are these books now AH novels?

A matter of pedantic definition.

Only a few days ago, before I found this website, I would have called them "outdated", because I did not think in AH terms. Pavel Chekov, on the original Star Trek series, refers to "Leningrad" two hundred years after the people of that city changed the name to St. Petersburg. I found the novel on which the Don Knotts film "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" is based. It was published in 1943, I think, and at the end the European war is stopped by a truce negotiated with Hitler. To me, such things just sound silly today.
