Meteor shower.
edit: I would put the POD at somewhere in the 1830s as Britain appears to rule over Hannover.

I would guess the little gray dots all over east Asia and the middle east are the sites of nuclear attacks, which goes with the Deadmans Border - maybe that radius encloses an area that's so radioactive that its totally poisonous?
Japan apparently has a very early empire; there looks to have been some kind of civil war in China, and most of Europe is a fragmented mess.
Was the POD some kind of earlier advance(s) in science? Early atomics? A World War around the same time as OTL WWI but involving nukes? Then the World League is formed and given a huge amount of leeway in cleaning up the mess?

It could be a big meteorite too... (and many smaller ones)

There seems to have been an alien invasion. But curiously they have let the other great powers (Britain, France, USA) maintain their independence. Maybe the aliens have limited supplies and cant afford to battle the world.

Germany seems not to have been united.

After the US-Spanish war the Spanish Government sold any remaining colonies to Portugal to pay of their debts.
The Twenty Week War of 1917 sees the alliance of Bavaria, Holland, Italy (United in 1900 following the collapsed of Austria-Hungary) and Prussia fall to the might of the "world league" composed of the US, Britain, France, Russia and Japan. There are significant communist uprisings in Eastern Siberia, other parts of the Russian Empire and Abyssinia masterminded by the communistic leader of Persia. This occured in aproximately 1916 and continues into 1918 with signiciant destruction of cities where the communists were in pre-eminence. Rumours in the west abound that a weapon of terrible power has been unleashed in the east, but this is hushed under a censored press which maintains these rumours are nothing but the work of communist sympathisers.
Ultimately it seems inevitable that the Communists will be quickly brought down by the World League who view them as a dangerous menace to the status quo.

Ok. I lied. This is one of those maps I create, following some rules, but with no clear TL or even POD in mind.
Basically, the Tugunska explosion was a big bad meteorite, and the people around the crash got post-apocalyptic syndrome and became all nutty, and somehow managed to amass military force.
i think i'd better transfer this to ASB land. Maybe it'll make a good alien plot.

Alantis is seen as widely mythical. I do see where you put it as far too close to Europe, and far too small according to Plato. If you are going to assume Alantis was real, at least know your Sorces. cosmotogogy is something that takes time and dedication to explore.

i based its location on the game Age of Mythology, as i stated in the OP if that TL.
As i also stated, in my TL, that the canary islands were the highest peaks of atlantis' mountains, in my TL.
just because many claim atlantis to not exist means not that it exists not.
wait, why did i just sound like Yoda just then?

There needs to be a lot more people around Tunguska area, which had been extremely sparcely populated in order to have a scenario of the kind... now if the explosion of a kind happened within "syndrome" distance of a major city or two, things could look very different then...
