The anime movie Steamboy opened this past week. I was fortunate to see the Japanese version, as opposed to the English dubbed version, this weekend. Its interesting and its fully steampunk. The whole of the story takes place around the London Exhibition of 1866. Tho there are a few errors the movie does catch mid-century Britain spot on.
The main character is a young boy named Ray Steam who tries to keep this wonderous steam ball from falling into the wrong hands. The story is fairly convoluted and the movie over all can use some editing. I can not tell you how many times one sees exploding steam pipes!
