I spend half an hour typing a new entry and the fucking thing decides it's not going to save it!

It's called selective editing.

I believe the correct tmetic modifier is actually "unbe-fucking-lievable", not "un-fucking-believable".

How'd you like your tmetic modifier stuck up your arse?

Happens sometimes with wikis. Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C before hitting "Save" helps. Did you lose your text?

Yep. I usually do copy stuff but I didn't this time as it wasn't that long.

But you spent half-an-hour typing it?

I spent ten minutes typing it. I spent twenty minutes composing and fact checking it.

The facts are still true. Ten minutes typing? Still a bind I guess.

There are message boards that sometimes ask you to login again when you post and wipe the text clear. When you get timed out you often need a time out to get over it.

Well that was odd.

I went back to retype the article and noticed a button for "edit draft", clicked it and there was the original version I'd written.

I was sure I'd looked for a saved version at the time.

What did you do then, spend several past lives kicking puppies and talking in theatres?

I once drew a detailed fictional map for a pen and paper roleplaying game; you know, the stuff that you pour 20 hours into, to make every detail perfect, then touch up for accurate topography for 10 more in photoshop, and it's all so perfect that you just know if you tried to do it again you never could get it half as good?

Then I was exhausted and really wanted to do something else for awhile. Saved the project to my desktop accidently. First mistake.

Then I closed the applications I used, spent but happy, and mechanically deleted the clutter on my desktop. Second mistake.

Then half my brain went into panic mode while the other was still snoozing. Part of it was screaming: "Wait, restore this!!!" The other half was holding the mouse was like; "Okay dude, quickly empty the recycle bin and go get a drink, you earned it." I swear after I emptied the bin, I felt my whole body go through a two celcius degree shift in as many seconds as the adrenaline kicked in.

YOU WASTED TEN MINUTES OUT OF AN 80 YEAR LIFE... GET OVER IT.

If you can see, your loss is relatively not that big.

there is better things to do than complain about lost time, the time you spend whining and griping over your lost work will be much longer than redoing your work in the first place.

Don't complain... just do.

Type things in MSWord then Copy and Paste.

Or OpenOfficeWord.
Or Kate. Or Emacs ;-)
