Presenting: The single most hated nation in alternate history: The Domination of Draka.

What if the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom or the People's Republic of China in the present day was transported back just prior to the beginning of the Eurasian War? Alright, that was sadistic. How about just after the Stone Dogs? Can any of these nations survive on their own? How about all three together?

Just after the Stone Dogs, you'd have a crippled, dying Alliance and a beat-up but still powerful Draka. An unharmed Russia, Britain, or PRC would be a major threat to either side (probably the Draka), though the fact that the Draka do have some space forces might limit the amount of damage these powers could do.

The Russians experimented with space weapons during the Cold War; perhaps they might bring one or two out of hiding to throw at Draka LEO platforms.

If the Russians or Chinese appear, the Draka have suddenly lost huge amounts of territory, resources, serfs, and Citizens and have replaced those with a strong, probably hostile land power. The appearance of a more technologically-behind Britain wouldn't be as big a deal.

Well, Britain won't be damaged, for one thing, which always helps. For another, the Draka timeline has very divergent technology, so they'd be able to offer a lot to the alliance. SLBMs, micro-satellites for example. Computers and software would be another.

And of course Great Britain of our timeline has the major advantage of sir Elton John, under whose onslaught no Draka is safe.

Why not drop all 5 members of the security council in? That'd REALLY be a fight - 230 million Chinese troops, American and Russian technology, British and French special forces...

That won't even be remotely fair to the Draka, now would it?

All five members would not only suddenly eat up half of the Domination's resources, it would also put a combined nuclear arsenal of some 50,000 warheads at their disposal, a lot of them ICBMs and SLBMs to which the domination has very little defence. Anyway, the combined troop totals of all five members would be around five million, with millions more reserves ready to be called up (well, actually, there's a problem with this, since a lot of America's forces are tied up in overseas bases, which presumably won't be transported with them, and that would take out a good chunk of the five's military), not counting a WWII style general mobilisation.

"This war is not an ordinary war. It is the war of the entire Russian people. Not only to eliminate the danger hanging over our heads, but to aid all people groaning under the yoke of Fascism"
-Vladimir Putin, President of the Federation of Russia

"What is our policy? ... to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime."

-Anthony Blair, Prime Minister of Great Britain

"Yesterday, December 7, 2005, a date which will live in infamy, the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Domination of Draka."
-George W. Bush, President of the United States of America

"Be resolute, fear no sacrifice, and surmount every difficulty to win victory."
-Hu Jin Tao, President of the People's Republic of China

"When dealing with a force as corrupt and evil as the Domination of Draka there is no middle ground - to be "neutral" in that type of conflict was to in fact support the side of the Draka."
-Jacques Chirac, President of the Republic of France

Ahem.

And your problem with that is what precisely?

There aren't SLBMs in the Draka world? Are the sub launchers that survive the Stone Dogs all cruise missiles then?

If there're no ballistic-missile defenses, the Domination might be in trouble, though I think some of their surviving orbital platforms could shoot down the ballistic missiles if they can target them properly.

To the best of my knowledge, they've been going cruise missiles from the beginning.

Also, intercepting ICBMs is not a simple matter, even for the Draka, especially if they were given no warning. The orbital platforms may shoot down a few, or even quite a few, but a full launch by all five powers, or, hell, just Russia, would have completely crippled them.

Of course, on the other hand, the chances are somebody would have the bright idea to demostrate the power of an ICBM, thus giving the Draka time to prepare. Also, targeteering may be difficult in the absence of data, and our space technology is no where near good enough that our spysats can actually survive the Draka.

Why not drop all 5 members of the security council in? That'd REALLY be a fight - 230 million Chinese troops, American and Russian technology, British and French special forces...Somewhere in Drakon is a reference to a film of the effects of Domination biologicals, which includes people "dissolving". I've always thought that meant the Draka had the Ebola virus as a WMD. So the Domination has something that would, possibly, make this alliance stop and think twice about conducting a war. The Draka would not be helpless.

Also, we are making one incorrect assumption. We know the Draka. We know what their goals are, and what they will do to the losers.
The alliance does not.
The 5 member nations of the Security Council will not realize at first they are involved in a fight for global dominance, a fight in which there can only be one surviving side. That ignorance might lead them to refrain from going all-out.

And Special Forces? I'm laughing. Every Draka is a match for SF troops. They are raised that way. And although the oldest of the New Race is barely twenty, they will chew up the best SF without breaking a sweat. (Of course, having chosen my username in honor of one of the First Generation, I'm biased.)

MAD, definitely, if they have such weapons.

Eh, you nation suddenly wakes up right in a different world, what would you do? The confusion works both ways, you know, as Draka suddenly have half its territory shunted off, along with citizens, serfs and materiel, to god knows where. Anyway, America would be waking up right next to the surviving chunks of the USA in Canada and Mexico, which would no doubt apprise them of the situation relatively quickly. And it won't take more than a few flyovers or raid force recon into, say, Korea to show them things are definitely in a bit of a bind. It would certainly take some time, but probably not that long.

Oh, and die, Draka scum, etc.

Anyway, my conclusion in such a scenario seems to be MAD in all probability, which makes this a rather uninteresting timeline.
