In OTL effective European contact with the Americas started with Columbus. In the following generation the reformation happened. Spain became a really powerful Catholic state and had lots of gold.

How much difference would it have made had either European contact or the reformation happened either earlier or later.

Was there any causal link between this contact and the Reformation?

Not really, except that Spain wasted a lot of its wealth and time unsuccessfully trying to put down the Dutch Protestant rebellion.

The second part of your question is too vague, specify which one you want to happen when.
