AACHEN, HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE- Tomorrow the Holy Roman Empire celebrates the ninetieth anniversary of its founding with gargantuan ceremonies in the imperial capital. Emperor Friedrich Wilhelm VII is scheduled to address a crowd of over one million Imperial Citizens later today, in the largest gathering of Imperial Citizens in history, exceeding the 875,000 that appeared in 1968 for the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Empire, the successor state to the Greater German Reich. After the address, the gathered Citizens will sit down to an elaborate feast, and also will be able to enjoy a variety of lavish entertainments, including free gladiator and animal fights held in specially constructed arenas, classical music concerts, plays and showings of a specially commissioned propaganda film chronicling the history of the Holy Roman Empire. The Supreme Bishop of the United Christian Church, His Holiness Joseph Ratzinger, will also be present to speak.

CHENGDU, SICHUAN- Japanese zoologists and zookeepers at the Heisei Nature Preserve announced success in a new program to breed captive pandas, with fourteen pregnancies being reported last month alone. Dr. Ikeda Kotaro, head of the Giant Panda Captive Breeding Programme, says that the new breakthrough marks the best hope for the long-term preservation of the species, which was driven to the brink of extinction by loss of habitat.

"It is unfortunate that, in our drive to use the bounty of China to develop our great Empire, that these animals had to suffer. It is our duty to preserve the magnificent Giant Panda for future generations."

It is believed, however, that the creation of the Sichuan Giant Panda nature preserves have resulted in the expulsion of approximately 50,000 Chinese peasants. However, Imperial authorities have claimed that they will be resettled and given new jobs in timber extraction operations in Burma.

WASHINGTON, DC- President Colin Powell returned from a diplomatic summit in Cape Town today, claiming success in his efforts to deploy 250,000 extra United Nations peacekeepers to vulnerable areas in South Africa and Malaysia. Among his successes must be counted the pledge by Brazil to raise its contribution to the United Nations Defence Forces by 50,000, ending a decade of controversy about relatively low Brazilian military contribution to the joint defence of United Nations Member states. Powell remains, however, unable to obtain the necessary two-thirds votes from the United Nations General Assembly to formally admit Russia to the United Nations.
