View Full Version : Doomsday does not kill Superman?

As I recall, Captain Marvel and J'onn J'onz (As Bloodwynd) arrived moments after the death blows. Marvel alone is stronger than Superman, and as his powers are derived by magic, his limits are largely self imposed. He could have simply tossed Doomsday into orbit. How would this change the DCU?
Coast City not destroyed? Hal Jordan doesn't snap? No Kyle Rayner?

I've always been puzzled as to why Superman slugged it out with Doomsday at all. He would have done far better to haul Doomsday into orbit, or call up a Green Lantern to do it for him. The general rule for even the most powerful superheros should be to never let anything that can hurt you hit you. After all, Doomsday may have been very strong and very durable - but he did not seem to be able to fly and doesn't seem to have superspeed. A good grip on Doomsday's foot and a few seconds of 10,000g acceleration and Doomsday is no longer a problem, or at least not an immediate one.

I think Supes tried initially, then Doomsday stabbed him repeatedly with his spikes. It appeared that Doomy was incredibly fast for his size, and at this point Supes was only in the Mach 1 range.

Well, he has the strength of Hercules, but (DC) Hercules isn't THAT
strong. Besides, Wondy is described as "stronger than Hercules"
and then she is supposedly stronger than Marvel... And she isn't
THAT strong either. As for tossing Dooomsday in orbit,
doable, even without all that help. If Supes went into
the Sun to get supercharged (as he would do later against Imperiex)
he could deal with Doomsday without all that trouble.
