I'd like to think I wouldn't use it but I've read enough of the manga to know it's inevitable so...

I'd probably start by eliminating Osama Bin Laden and some other prominent Al-Qaeda people. Save the USA some work.

Next I would take out Dick Cheny. Your welcome to disagree with me but the world will be a slightly better place on the whole.

Next would be Robert Mugabe. Zimbabwe may have a chance at democracy after that.

I'd space these killings out and put them down as accidents so no one will get suspicious.

After that I'd just keep an eye on the news and eliminate anyone I thought to be a serious danger. I would also probably try and find someway to turn the Death Note to my personal advantage and get rich off it.

After about 10 years of this I would pass the Death Note onto someone trustworthy along with an explanation and list of instructions. I would lose all memory of the Note and live the rest of my life in reasonable luxury.

Note: This is all hypothetical. I wouldn't ever kill anyone in normal circumstances but the Death Note would inevitably force it upon me.

You know, after reading the parameter of the abilities of the death note, I noticed that nowhere does it say that past or future people were unaffected. But other than that, I see if writing 'Makind' works...

I dont think it would work, but my curiosity would literally be he end of me.:p

But, other than that, i pay a little visit to the most wanted lists of the world and then to prison data bases around the world.

Targets are everyone that NEGATIVELY fudges around with society.

Wait till after the DEM and GOP Conventions, and write Obama and McCain's death, they both die in a car wreck after The Convention.

Osama Bin Laden will be killed off, by his skin rotting until he finally bleeds to death.

I kill many celebrities I absolutely hate, Like Brad Pitt, Britney Spears, Madonna, Paris Hilton, and other pisshats that America would be better without.

I kill many dictators with Death Note, in order to bring Democracy to the world.

I kill Bob Saget, people will get kinda superstitious about Comedy Central Roasts.

I space these deaths out a bit.

After that, I shall only use it to exterminate bad and crazy people.

The pychological effect

Imagine a man who just got convicted for murder, but instead, he gets life or whatever and the friends and family of the victim are upset and all of a sudden, the murderer dies right there of a heart attack.

Killing random people would lead to (more) fear than usual.

Because you never know if someone might be innocent?

Besides, killing a bunch of petty who were just thieves or something seems really psychotic. Also, why do you think killing is fun? That is horrible.

Fenwick

I would not know who to kill outside of Osama Bin Laden. I mean plenty of times criminals go to jail on shakey evidence, so I'd need to actually look at cases, and info to decide if someone dies. Of course that makes me a suspect. I suppose any Janjaweed members I can find, but even then I will not know if they actually killed someone or not.

There is so much I'd ahve to take on faith, or my own beliefs that would make the Death note too hard to go through with. Of course as I understand it you feel a need to use the thing so I may not even have these issues.

Some innocents might get killed, but if they're convicted and die of a heart attack, it wouldn't matter how "innocent' they were. People will think that doing bad things could kill them.

But then it means killing those who are not guilty of anything, along with those who are guilty if the only why to die is by a conviction.

Okay, I admit the urge to play God will probably get the better of me here...

Note, the Death Note can't kill people whose names are not written -- no "Empire State Building falls on Donald Trump". If you write that Trump just dies of a heart attack [the default option]

You can also use the Death Note to manipulate people before death, within certain limitations -- nobody seems to have thought of this.

Hmm....for my first act, I'll try killing off Putin and Mikhail Sakaashvili at the same second through unmistakably "natural" causes. Before dying each leader will write a suicide note, in their own blood, in their native language, saying "God forgive me for bringing the spectre of war to the world."

See how they react to that. (mua ha ha, etc.)

..alright. Donald Trump constructs a bomb large enough to take down the empire state building, disguises it in his briefcase and walks in to detonate it at the basement?

August Sonereal
August 20th, 2008, 01:41 AM
Yes, the Death Note does not equal Super Death Powers. If it's not likely, good chance it won't work.

An example: If you write it so that a prisoner in Japan dies in front of the Eiffle, s/he will just die of a heart attack because it would be incredible for it to happen.

Didn't they try to take down the WTC the first time that way in '93? That didn't work, and I doubt that a bomb large enough would fit in a suitcase and take down the Empire State Building.

Of course, why would you want to do that anyway? Why not take down his own tower (Trump Tower)?

If a murdered gets away from a crime, and the guy who took the rap for him got convicted instead, chances are, he'll do it again. Or another crime.

Than again, if the guy who got convicted was part of a series of guys who are being convicted of these crimes are being killed, that guy won't think about doing it again and risk getting caught.

I eliminate a lot of the most reprehensible dictators in the world, with them having unexpected deathbed conversions to the side of freedom, sanity, and basic human decency. I suppose being diagnosed with only twenty days or so to live can change one's priorities. ;)

Then I start offering it as a service to the terminally ill, by using the Death Note to ensure that they die quietly and painlessly in their sleep instead of in agony from whatever it is that would originally kill them.

Once I'm done with it, just for shits and giggles, I write the name of God in Hebrew and then see what happens. Nietzsche, eat your heart out! :D

Politicians would have a drastically reduced live expectancy. Also The CEO of the RIAA will be in serious trouble, and so will their lawyers.

I wouldn't use it on criminals, the law can take are of them, and I'd try to ensure only the worst of the politicians got killed of so there won't be instability.

Overall I would try to make the world a better place. I'd probably fail but not before I murdered a lot of people.

I'm seriously disturbed by what some of the people are posting here. I mean, I kinda understand prisoners, but politicians and "CEO of the RIAA"? I know some are unbelievably greedy and/or dumb, but they don't even come close to deserving death.

Another thing, killing murderers might seem like justice, but in the end you're being the murderer as well. What many people forget is that murderers did have families at one point or another, no matter how psychotic and insane (especially the insane ones since they don't have any control over their actions) the murderer is. If a person is killed, there is going to be at least one person who is (albeit consciously or unconsciously) going to be saddened by the death. I know most of you are just kidding, but it'll be disturbing if even one of you is semi-serious (i.e. doing it if you actually have the power).

Thanks for listening to my cheesy and not well thought out rant:D

*snip*

I can't speak for the other posters, but here are my own motivations in this scenario.

First, my personal feeling is that confirmed and avowedly unrepentant murderers do in fact deserve the death penalty. If they do not wish to seek redemption, then the only moral thing to do is stop them from killing again, and the only sure way to do that is to eliminate them as quickly as possible. Furthermore, executing them is far more humane in this instance, as life imprisonment with no hope of parole could more accurately be described as "execution by aging".

The reason for my targeting certain well-known political, military, and other such figures is that determining guilt is much simpler. With an ordinary murderer, the only way to be absolutely certain of his or her guilt would have been to personally catch them in flagrante delicto. With individuals such as, for example, Kim Jong-Il or Robert Mugabe, their crimes are plain for anyone with enough wit to see. Furthermore, there is no way they can adequately atone at this late date for the horrors they have perpetrated, even in the unlikely event that they saw anything wrong with what they have done, and waiting for the futile hope they will spontaneously become decent human beings condems thousands or millions of additional people to death as you wait.

Therefore, the only moral course of action if you came into possession of a tool that could circumvent some or all of the difficulties and consequences of assassinating them conventionally would be to purge the world of the stain they leave on it.
