An ASB makes appear on Earth 100000 silver
necklaces on big cities all over the world. They are very discreet,
and can be worn under the clothes, by both men and women.
As soon as someone put on one such necklace, instructions are
radiated to the wearer's brain explaining that, while one is
using the necklace, he (or she) can touch any other
personīs neck absorbing their knowledge, either academic,
bookish knowledge or simply empirical ). The victim becomes
unconscious in seconds, unless he (or she) manages to
break contact very fast. The knowlege is absorbed at a
rate roughly proportional to sheer volume of
information: about 10 minutes (of absorption) per year
of academic formation . Tipically the victim (if in good
prior health) awakes about two hours after suffering the absorption
with a headache, nothing more. People with weak heart or similar
ailments may not be so luck...
As for the vampire, the knowledge he absorbed is his (or
hers) to keep, regardless of his keeping or not
the necklace afterwards...
Nobody is forced to use the
necklace. Anyone can turn it over to the authorities,
if he or she wants to....
Would YOU keep it, or give it up?
