Nation: New London Colony (India, Pakistan, Burma) United Colonies of England

History: History: The British Crown Colony of New London began her life in the year of our lord 1775, to suppliment lagging control over the British controled North American Colonies. But, instead of crushing the native tribes, the colonists who reached the site of New London signed peaceable treaties with the tribes, and brought them into the Capital city of New London (Calcutta before the year 1945) and proceeded to anglocise them. By the year 1781, the British had lost control of ALL colonies in North America, even the Belize Colony went into full rebellion. Thousands of colonists were sent to india, in particular, the New London Colony. By 1850, the British Crown Colonies in India numbered in the mid 10 million range, not counting the native population, who had intigrated with the rest of British society (They numbered in the mid 100 million range, stretching from the Siahan Mountain range in Pakistan, all the way to the borders of French IndoChina. During the indistrial Revolution, the colony had been completely industrialized to balance out the production downfall due to the loss of the canadian colony. When the African Colonies began to even out the imbalance, the New London Colony began to grown its own cotton. During the American Civil War, (Between the Canadian/Northern Colonies, and the Confederacy), the New London Colony produced 1/5 of the world's cotton supply. The colony grew rich, so rich in fact, that it was able to lay down its own rail lines. By the year 1900, the New London Colony was the most profitable colony in the British Empire. When the great War broke out, the New London Colony sent three Divisions to aid her mother country (the 1st Mountain division, the third Low lands division, and the fourth mechanized), all three are still in existance. By the time that the war had ended, the New London Colony had become fully industrialized, disease, and famine were beginning to become erased from the memories of the colonists. But, when the Spanish Flu of 1918 swept through New London, no one was left untouched. Over three million perished, disease and famine became common place. It took the colony ten years to recover, and by that time, radical Islam, and Hindu ideas began to spread through the minds of many. One man, named Mahatma Gandi, lead the masses in a war of non-violence. This war is still raging to this day...

Government: No Prime Minister, colonial system, viceroy Albert Hugh in charge
Military: British East India Corps (Basically the same as the british Indian corps in the second world war), Squadrons of destroyers, cruisers, and two newer battleships sent to the port city of Calcutta to guard against Japanese or German attack.

Flag: British Colonial Flag...

That's going to be very confusing. OTL Pakistan doesn't exist in 1939 and is simply the Westernmost provinces of India. Cutting them off from India is going to leave them with no established government. Also, don't think of them as a Muslim enclave as there were huge numbers of Hindus there before the independence wars of the late 1940s.

I do, thanks. Add 2 in there also, just for good measure. And by the way, most of the indian provinces were governed in Calcutta and in new Dehli, not in Karachi, Pakistan.

AS6 & OC 1

Nation: Empire of Japan (AS 6 & OC 1)
Present Government: Emperor Hirohito, Prime Minister: Prince Konoe Fumimaro. Constitutional Monarchy.

History: Empire of Japan 1896 -1939
The cost of the extended conflict in the island of Cuba forced the government of Spain in early 1896 to accept the German Imperial offer to purchase the Philippines archipelago and the island of Guam in exchange of $50 million cash and war material to pursue their attempts of crushing the Cuban rebellion. The German administration was just taking over in the Philippines when the pro-independence leaders Jose Rizal and Andres Bonifacio (Katipunan movement 30 thousand strong) issued the call to arms to the rebels to expel their new masters.

Insurrections also broke out in eight provinces surrounding Manila on Luzon and soon spread to other islands. The rebels were not trained regulars and had little success against the just arriving German colonial troops. In the province of Cavite, however, under the leadership of Emilio Aguinaldo, the Katipunan rebels defeated the remnants of the Civil Guard and the just arriving colonial troops. Eventually with the arrival of reinforcements from both Germany and the African colonies, the rebel leaders were captured and executed, Rizal in 1897, Bonifacio in early 1898 and Aguinaldo in 1900. The German military administration launched a campaign to exterminate the Katipunan movement and by early 1904 the movement was effectively extinct.

The Japanese Empire after their victory over the Chinese in 1894 was a new continental power, represented by a fatherly Emperor who had become more than a sovereign. It sent troops to suppress the Chinese uprising against the Western nations in 1900 and two years later it signed a treaty with the British Empire. A nation unknown fifty years before had become the partner of the world's most powerful nation. And it took to exploit this new alliance. In 1904, it surprisingly attacked the Russians, aiming at a treaty that would keep Russia out of Korea, but Russia had dismissed all talk. Now, the Imperial Navy struck. Forces were landed and the siege of the Port Arthur harbor began. The Russian Fleet tried to escape and destroy the blockade forces, but was beaten back. The besieged fleet called for help, and Czar Nicholas sent the Baltic Fleet to relieve the Pacific fleet forces. In October 1904, the new fleet left the Baltic, but before it could reach and unite itself with the Pacific Fleet, Port Arthur fell. The new fleet continued on, hoping to get into Vladivostok and form a fleet in being, if not more. But the Japanese caught the enemy in the straits of Tsushima, between Japan and Korea, and soundly defeated the Russians. Only a handful of fast light cruisers escaped; Japan had won an overwhelming victory against a superior enemy. If there had been any doubt in the Western nations´ minds that there was a new force to be reckoned with, this war dispelled it all.

When the Great War began in 1914, Japan was the primary power in the Far East. It possessed the whole of Korea and Formosa, the Ryukyu´s, the Bonins, and was able to exercise its power anywhere its fleet would go. Thus, not surprisingly, the possibility of gaining more territory at low cost made the Great War a welcome opportunity. Posing an ultimatum on Germany that demanded the Kaiser to cede its possessions in China and the Pacific to Japan, the Empire made sure that it would get those territories one way or the other. When the Kaiser refused to cede such possessions, Japanese forces took less than a year to occupy Tsingtao, the Marianas, the Palaus, the Carolines, Marshalls and the Philippines. It did not participate to a great extend in anything else; and with the end of the Great War, it retained all the captured areas with the exception of Tsingtao.

The two-party political system that had been developing in Japan since the turn of the century finally came of age after World War I. Fear of a broader electorate, left-wing power, and the growing social change engendered by the influx of Western popular culture together led to the passage of the Peace Preservation Law (1925), which forbade any change in the political structure or the abolition of private property. The public grew disillusioned with the growing national debt and the new election laws, which retained the old minimum tax qualifications for voters. Calls were raised for universal suffrage and the dismantling of the old political party network. New elections brought still another Seiyokai Party (conservative) majority, but barely so.

Unstable coalitions and divisiveness in the Diet led the Kenseikai (Constitutional Government Association) and the Seiyo Honto (True Seiyokai) to merge as the Rikken Minseito (Constitutional Democratic Party) in 1927. The Rikken Minseito platform was committed to the parliamentary system, democratic politics, and world peace. Thereafter, until 1939, the Seiyokai and the Rikken Minseito alternated in power.

An international turning point in military diplomacy was the Washington Conference of 1921-22, which produced a series of agreements that effected a new order in the Pacific region. Japan's economic problems made a naval buildup nearly impossible and, realizing the need to compete with the United States on an economic rather than a military basis, rapprochement became inevitable. Japan adopted a more neutral attitude toward the civil war in China, dropped efforts to expand its hegemony into China proper, and joined the United States, Britain, and France in encouraging Chinese self-development.

In the Four Power Treaty on Insular Possessions (December 13, 1921), Japan, the United States, Britain, and France agreed to recognize the status quo in the Pacific, and Japan and Britain agreed to terminate formally their Treaty of Alliance. The Five Power Naval Disarmament Treaty (February 6, 1922) established an international capital ship ratio (5, 5, 3, 1.75, and 1.75, respectively, for the United States, Britain, Japan, France, and Italy) and limited the size and armaments of capital ships already built or under construction. In a move that gave the Japanese Imperial Navy greater freedom in the Pacific, Washington and London agreed not to build any new military bases between Singapore and Hawaii. The goal of the Nine Power Treaty (February 6, 1922), signed by Belgium, China, the Netherlands, and Portugal, along with the original five powers, was the prevention of war in the Pacific. The signatories agreed to respect China's independence and integrity, not to interfere in Chinese attempts to establish a stable government, to refrain from seeking special privileges in China or threatening the positions of other nations there, to support a policy of equal opportunity for commerce and industry of all nations in China, and to reexamine extraterritoriality and tariff autonomy policies. Japan also agreed to withdraw its troops from Shandong, relinquishing all but purely economic rights there, and to evacuate its troops from Siberia.

In 1928 Japan joined fourteen other nations in signing the Kellogg-Briand Pact, which denounced "recourse to war for the solution of international controversies." Thus, when Japan invaded Manchuria only three years later, its pretext was the defense of its nationals and economic interests there. The London Naval Conference in 1930 came at a time of economic recession in Japan, and the Japanese government was amenable to further, cost-saving naval reductions but while Prime Minister Hamaguchi Osachi had civilian support, he bypassed the Naval General Staff and the London Naval Treaty was not approved due to military opposition.

After World War I and the intellectual ferment of the period, nationalist societies became numerous but had a minority voice during the era of two-party democratic politics. Diverse and angry groups called for nationalization of all wealth above a fixed minimal amount and for armed overseas expansion. The emperor was highly revered by these groups, and when Hirohito was enthroned in 1927, initiating the Showa period (Bright Harmony, 1926-89), there were calls for a "Showa Restoration" and a revival of Shinto. Emperor-centered neo-Shintoism, or State Shinto, which had long been developing, came to fruition in the 1930s. It glorified the emperor and traditional Japanese virtues to the exclusion of Western influences, which were perceived as greedy, individualistic, bourgeois, and assertive. The ideals of the Japanese family-state and self-sacrifice in service of the nation were given a missionary interpretation and were thought by their ultranationalist proponents to be applicable to the modern world.

The 1930s were a decade of fear in Japan, characterized by the resurgence of right-wing patriotism, the weakening of democratic forces, domestic terrorist violence (including an assassination attempt on the emperor in 1932), and stepped-up military aggression abroad. A prelude to this state of affairs was Tanaka Giichi's term as Prime Minister from 1927 to 1929. Twice he sent troops to China to obstruct Chiang Kai-shek's unification campaign. In June 1928, adventurism officers of the Kwangtung Army, the Imperial Japanese Army unit stationed in Manchuria, embarked an unauthorized initiatives to protect Japanese interests, including the assassination of a former ally, Manchurian warlord Chang Huolin. The perpetrators hoped the Chinese would be prompted to take military action, forcing the Kwangtung Army to retaliate. The Japanese high command and the Chinese, however, both refused to mobilize. The incident turned out to be a striking example of unchecked terrorism. Even though press censorship kept the Japanese public from knowing about these events, they led to the downfall of Tanaka and set the stage for a similar plot, the Manchurian Incident, in 1931.

A secret society founded by army officers seeking to establish a military dictatorship--the Sakurakai (Cherry Society, the cherry blossom being emblematic of self-sacrifice)--plotted to attack the Diet and political party headquarters, assassinate the prime minister, and declare martial law under a "Showa Restoration" government led by the army minister. Although the army canceled its coup plans (to have been carried out in March 1931), no reprisals were taken and terrorist activity was again tacitly condoned.

In 1929, under the pretext of curtailing illegal Soviet political activities, the Republic of China under Chiang Kai-shek attempted to use force to seize control of Soviet railway assets in north Manchuria; the Soviets quickly responded with overwhelming force, and a short but decisive Sino-Soviet war resulted in Chinese defeat. Fearing that their hard-won though often disputed position in south Manchuria would be threatened by an increasingly assertive Chinese nationalism and Soviet military adventurism, the Japanese Kwangtung Army conspirators blew up a few meters of South Manchurian Railway Company track near Mukden (now Shenyang), blamed it on Chinese saboteurs, and used the event as an excuse to seize Mukden
.
This effectively drove the resident Manchurian warlord from power, and established the Kwantung Army as the de-facto administrative organ in most of Manchuria One month later, in Tokyo, military figures plotted the October Incident, which was aimed at setting up a national socialist state. The plot failed, but again the news was suppressed and the military perpetrators were not punished. Japanese forces attacked Shanghai in January 1932 on the pretext of Chinese resistance in Manchuria. Finding stiff Chinese resistance in Shanghai, the Japanese waged a three-month undeclared war there before a truce was reached in March 1932.

In 1932, the Kwantung Army initiated the formation of a new administration in Manchuria, and the Empire of Manchukuo was born, headed by the last Chinese emperor, Puyi, as chief executive and later emperor. This new state served and was supported by the Japanese in much the same way Mongolian People's Republic served and was supported by the Soviet Union: behind every native authority stood a foreign "advisor" who frequently was the one who had the real power. The civilian government in Tokyo was powerless to prevent these military happenings. Instead of being condemned, the Kwangtung Army's actions enjoyed popular support back home. International reactions were extremely negative, however.

The ultranationalist movement met the beginning of their demise with the May 15th Incident in 1932, when a group of junior naval officers and army cadets try to assassinate Prime Minister Inukai Tsuyoshi (1855-1935). The plotters were put on trial and sentenced to dead but in some circles they were seen as having acted out of patriotism. Inukai surrounded himself with military men chosen by Saionji Kinmochi, a respected politician with close ties to the Emperor, and was forced to accept the status of Manchukuo and generally approved the army's actions in securing Manchuria as an industrial base, an area for Japanese emigration, and a staging ground for war with the Soviet Union but was preparing secretly himself to defeat other attempts by the military to suppress the constitutional government. In the April 15th Incident of 1935, about 2,000 troops went on a rampage of assassination against the current and former prime ministers and other cabinet members, and even Saionji and members of the imperial court. Other military units put down the revolt, and its leaders were executed after secret trials. Public dismay over these events and the discredit they brought to numerous military figures gave the new Prime Minister Konoe Fumimaro the power to defeat the army's demands thanks to the support of the Imperial Navy. In the October 10th Incident of 1936 civil war was averted thanks to a direct plea to the Army forces by the Emperor himself, giving his full support to his Prime Minister and his allies and the strangle hold of the ultranationalist movement in the decisions of the Army was effectively destroyed. Still increases were seen in defense budgets, naval construction, and patriotic indoctrination.

In November 1936, the Anti-Comintern Pact, an agreement to exchange information and collaborate in preventing communist activities, was signed by Japan and Germany (Italy joined a year later). The last attempt of affecting the policies of the Empire by the ultranationalists was the Marco Polo Bridge Incident of July 7, 1937, in which a clash took place near Peking between Chinese and Japanese troops. The Army General Staff refused to mobilize and after diplomatic discussions the situation was resolved peacefully. The last major remnants of ultranationalist officers are stationed in the Manchukuo and in August of 1939 were primed to try to create a conflict with the Soviets to achieve their political ideas.

I know a lot of aircrafts but still all the planes in Manchukuo and China are not being Isoted plus a lot of Infantry divisions also are staying behind.

Im' pretty sure of the Naval aircraft number for 1939 but all I got for the army types was total numbers for the entire production so I reduced some the total numbers and put the mayority in the left behind pile. I know still that is a lot of aircraft but is very close to OTL numbers.

China

Name: United Federation of Chinese States (UFCS), aka "China"
Leaders: Premier Lelean Wong, Corrupt Dictatorship

History: Hailing from the same TL as the Protectorate Kingdom of Hawaii, China became the settling ground for American refugees during the Second Civil War. Although they were not welcome within China nor the foreign enclaves, they did manage to carve out their own presence through arming dissidents within the countryside. Years of constant struggle and war followed with the American faction gaining the former territory of the foreign enclaves as Europe was engaged with it's own wars. By the 1910's, much of the countryside had reverted to American control, with the former American electorate system established within it's territories. The only states that resisted the new "American China" were the foreign enclaves and Chinese enclaves centered around major port cities. In 1912, Prime Minister Yuen Wo Ling ascended the post, and managed to streamline the democratci system by adjusting the structures towards Chinese customs. This soon lessened the opposition that the Chinese enclaves had towards the UFCS and lead to their joining in 1923.

Relations with the foreign enclaves and the UAS states (Japan, Korea, Phillipines) fell apart due to Premier Lelean Wong's ascendency. Within his reign, the UFCS acquired a militant policy to many of the various foreign enclaves and other states around them. This soon lead to the annexation of Singsao, thereby violating the unofficial peace that was between the enclaves and the UFCS. Other enclaves followed with the Premier gaining more and more power as the UFCS reached the size of the former Empire of China.

By 1938, those enclaves that remained as well as the UAS states had resorted to the behavior that the UFCS featured. Skirmishes started to break-out along the Manchurian/Korean border. Artillery shellings opened up in Hong Kong and Hinan. This aggression soon escalated into fierce bombardment within the border forts.

At the date of the ISOT, it has yet to remain on when the war will break out...

1814- British take New Orleans in the final battle of the war of 1812. As it was after the Peace treaty, they say "Sorry about that" and gives it back.

The loss of both Washington and New Orleans, stings the Nation.

1815- With talk of the old "Millions for Defense" and new talk of "Never Again" the old tabled bills to build a "74 Gun Man of War" Navy, are dusted off and passed. 1928 - Princess Sakuramachi Jito, Graduates from Tokyo University with a BA in History

August 30th 1939 Princess Sakuramachi Jito arrives in Vadivostok to open a new Hydro Electric Dam in Amur province.

Wednesday Septembre 1st , 0800 local........................

Economic Isoted Area
Japan has controlled Korea, and Manchukuo for , forty years, and Amur for twenty, As such while Korea is almost as Developed Industrially as the Home Islands, and Manchukuo the agricultural centre, Amur is still mostly underdeveloped, except for Electric production, The giant dam, the Princess was to open was the fifth of ten under construction. It is believed [wrongly of course ] that this will satisfy the electric needs for the next thirty years. Almost all Japanese and lots of American Companies, have subsisitary plants in Korea and Amur, Ranging from home Items to Trucks, Airplanes & Shipyards. There is a Extensive RR system, running high speed steam locomotives, thru a move to Electric Locomotives is underway. There are also about 500 miles of Autobahns, with more under construction. Oil was discovered in Habin, Manchukuo in 1937, and a large refinery is under construction in the area.

Military
While the RoJ had over a million Men under arms, about a third of them were in the Philippines To protect from the Anglo/Dutch in Indonesia, and the French in Indochina. Also most of the Navy and Airforce weren't ISOTed.
Army
What they Do have is 25 divisions of Infantry [500.000 men] with a Thousand tanks in Fortifications along the Amur. They also have another ten divisions scattered around, with another 250 tanks mostly in Manchukuo. To protect from raids in the ongoing 8 sided civil war.
Navy
After the failure of the Washington Naval Treaty Conference, The Republic took a complete reappraisal of it's military and Assessment of the Future needs, As such the two 36.000 ton Konga Class Battleships were redesigned as Aircraft Carriers. They are two of the Largest ACC's in the World with 90 planes each. 50 of the new Falcon Fighters. & twenty each of Bombers, and Torpedo planes. Both were Steaming near Vladivkoyo [Vladivostok], Along with their escort, fleets. [3 Cruisers, & 7 destroyers]. There are also 1 Konga class BB. 6 heavy Cruisers, 4 Lite Cruisers, and 20 destroyers and ten subs. that were in the Isot area. There is also the American Naval Base, with 2 BB's the USS Haiti, and It's sister ship, the CSS Santo Domingo, Both Texas Class with 14 inch guns, Thro they were both rebuilt in the late 30's with new AA systems. 2 heavy Cruisers, 5 lite cruisers and a dozen Destroyers, along with numerous small craft. The base was suppose two have more ships But they were at Sea and not Isoted. Including the Two Aircraft Carriers, and the 3 Battle Cruisers'.
Airforce
Fighting in the Siberian Mountains during the Great War, The Japanese realized the Mobility that Aircraft gave. The RoJ Air Doctrine considers the Airforce as the Calvary of previous years. It is a Separate service, The Airforce Pilots, serve both with the Army, and the Navy. [Like OTL the Marines in the Navy]. The Doctrine stresses the need for close coordination with the ground [or sea] forces. They have close to 9.000 planes ranging from Seaplanes for SAR along the Coast to Fighters, Bombers, and even some Steam powered Scout Planes designed to fly at above 22.000 ft. Almost all of these are older Biplane, or Bristol style mono's.
There are about 150 of the New Falcon Fighters, Equipped with a 70 mm gun. To stop tanks. Unfortunately the Factory that was building them was in Japan, and the Sudsisitary plant in Korea, Isn't tooled up, [The Molds and Stamps were being Shipped from Japan.

DuQuesne's ISOT'ed part of his Japan is only the Amur Maritime Provinces (maybe Manhuria and Korea, I'm not sure), whilst the ISOT'ed part of Per99's Japan are the home islands.

I know because its been quite important to work out the Eastern borders of my Russian Empire ! Per 99 has the Southern Kurils whilst I have the Northern ones (and the Western Aleutians)

I couldn't work out who had Sakhalin - both DuQuesne and Per99 seemed to think they did.

I hope that makes sense !

Ten aircraft carriers seems rather excessive for a 1939 China, even an American one. Its more than either OTL Japan or the USA had

My nation...the After-nation of Borneo and Sumatra.

My nation processes all sorts of raw materials from around the world. My military consists of an army, navy, air force. My nation was established in the early 1780's under the rule of Junoshi Hikida a japanese samurai warrior. As more people began immigrating to the pacifica islands and Madagascar, the demand for some form of organized increased. Junoshi declared independance from Japan in March 15, 1807. The infant nation was brought under one form of government run by a council of clan leaders, some run the military as strategists, other leaders run the economical areas of the nation.

Those areas are empty areas which have been fought over for the last two weeks. Therefore they are not available. If you wish to join PM Du Quesne and ask what is left free AND available. Most free areas on the map are now claimed as empty and the subject of storylines in progress, you can't suddenly change all that
