A Turbulent Era: Recruitment Thread (Test)
So these are all the important links you need to join my government sim in the Sandbox, A Turbulent Era. The sim takes place in the 2020s, what will be one of the most turbulent decades in human history. The job of the American government? Get the nation through these times, and have your political career survive!
Currently, the 2024 presidential election is just unfolding, with Republican President Ryan Paquette of Georgia running for re-election amidst a declining economy, a politically restless populace, and the international stage on ever-so-unstable ground. Congress is divided with a Republican-controlled House, and a Democratic-controlled Senate. The Democratic primaries have signaled that the party is returning to its old roots of progressivism and populism, with frontrunner Governor Xavier Richardson of New Jersey locked in a competitive race with insurgent Kyle Rieke of Arizona, CEO of SolarCell Inc. The general election may potentially be a four-way race, and redefine the American electorate for generations to come. Now that the introduction is out of the way, the game is currently looking for congressional and Senate candidates, especially Republicans! Of course, you can always join as a Democrat or an independent/third-party candidate (and you can run for the governorships up for election in '24), it is just that we are lacking a significant number of right-leaning characters in the game, especially on the national level. ![]() ![]() Some links to help you learn about the game: 1. The Discussion Thread: On the first post, you will find a character sheet. You need to fill that out, and post it in the Main Thread (see the link below). Also in this thread are the character sheets filled out by most of our players, so you can find the background of any of our player characters you need/want to know. 2. The Main Thread: This is where the main federal government is simulated. I post a monthly report for the feds every month, to which the President of the United States and the Congress react. Also, if you are a Governor or you hold a non-federal office, you can post any character deliberations you like here. 3. The Election Thread: This is where all the players simulate running for political office. Ya wanna be the next Senator from New York? You have to win it first! But sooner or later, everyone has to run for election or re-election to an office. The current year is 2024, the Democrats, Republicans, and third parties such as the Greens are vying for the Presidency, Congress, and several Governorships. You post everything concerning your current or even future political campaign for office in this thread - your campaign speeches, your TV ads, your campaign strategy, the political positions you focus on... Everything to do with campaigning for office. 4. The Governors Thread: This is where all the players simulating U.S. Governors run their states. I post a Governors' Report every two days, and each report contains a sub-report for each state being run by a character. A few things you should know: A few things you should know: 1) I know the governorships thing is unique to these political games, but that's just the problem: Most of our current players are simulating the governorships. DON'T FORGET THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! It can be very fun politicking with other Senators over votes on the floor of the Senate and on the floor of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and it works excellently on a resume for President of the United States. So I would seriously appreciate if any of you new players wish to join as Senators. It doesn't mean you can't run for Governor later on (after all, lots of congressmen run for Governor after four years in the House, and several of our current Senators are running for Governor), it just means that, for now, we NEED more Senators/Congressmen-and-women. Don't feel REQUIRED to if you feel you would have more fun as a Governor, but realize I would MUCH APPRECIATE a congressman or a senator. 2) Please join! Any new players are ALWAYS welcome! 3) If you have any questions about the game, please PM me - I would be glad to answer them. |
