Guam & American Samoa in Hawaii

Could these have been entered as part of our 50th State? Would anything else have changed? Could the Virgin Islands also be part of the deal?

Having been a resident of Hawaii for many, many years, I think the addition of Samoa and Guam to the state would be a disservice to their respective citizens. Governance shouldn't be done over a distance of 10,000s of miles. Also I think the addition of the said territories would be a financial drain upon Hawaii in general. Guam regularly gets beaten by typhoons and America Samoa doesn't have any really extensive modern infrastructure. Neither have any major job oppurtunities outside of serving the local military base - and I think this is less so in Samoa. Such an arrangement would certainly be a lose-lose situation.

What is the stretch from one end of the Hawaii Islands to the other?
Comparable distance of San Fran to Salt Lake City?

Loooooooooooooonger....

I dunno the actual difference but it's longer than US to Alaska - something akin to Nigeria to the UK.
